Director of projects and technical affairs and lead RE advisor

Maged K. Mahmoud is the director of projects and technical affairs, and the lead renewable energy adviser, at the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE). An expert in sustainable energy with nearly 30 years of experience, he holds a PhD in mechanical power engineering and has worked on sustainable energy projects in Egypt, the Mediterranean and the Arab region. He has shaped energy strategies, mobilised funds and fostered regional co-operation on sustainable energy. He has contributed to more than 80 projects, initiatives and studies, including sustainable energy master plans and mechanisms to enhance private-sector participation in renewable energy. He has contributed to advancing sustainable energy initiatives endorsed by the Arab Ministerial Council of Electricity, and before joining the RCREEE, he was an official in the Egyptian New and Renewable Energy Authority, where he contributed to renewable energy strategies and renewable energy projects. Mr Mahmoud is a member of several committees and is an author or co-author on more than 50 publications. He is an adjunct lecturer at the British University in Egypt and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, and a certified trainer in energy and management.
