MAJD AWARDS


The Ministry of Energy and Minerals has officially launched the second edition of the Majd Award for Local Content, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening Oman’s local content ecosystem across the energy and minerals sectors.
As part of the wider Majd programme, the award recognises initiatives that empower national companies, develop local supply chains, and drive innovation and investment in line with Oman Vision 2040.
With four key categories, the award celebrates organisations contributing to a more competitive and sustainable national economy.
Category 1: Best Omani Startup Company
The best startup category celebrates the bold Omani startups reshaping the Energy and Minerals landscape—ventures driven by fresh ideas, modern technologies, and the ambition to grow beyond today’s possibilities. It recognizes emerging enterprises founded in Oman with scalable, innovation led models and the potential to unlock new value for the sector, fuel economic growth, and create meaningful opportunities for the future workforce.
Mandatory Criteria:
- Company must be Incorporated in the last 5 years and registered with Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) and registered in Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA)
- Company must be majority owned by Omani investors and the Omanization rate must be at least 50%
- Preference to new or disruptive technology, service or products that are provided in the energy and mineral sector
- Companies that demonstrate innovation and a clear business plan toward long-term sustainability will be given preference.
Category 2: Best Workforce Initiative in the Contracting Community
The Human Capital Development Award celebrates initiatives that invest in Oman’s greatest strength—its people. It honors programs that unlock Omani potential through transformative training, recognized professional qualifications, and pathways to rewarding, high-impact careers. By empowering national talent to lead, innovate, and excel, these efforts are shaping a confident generation ready to drive Oman toward a prosperous and globally competitive future.
Mandatory Criteria:
- The company must be registered in Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (Mo-CIIP)
- The employment or training initiative provided by the company must target local talent
- “Micro” sized SMEs are excluded from participation
- Initiative must cover activities within Energy or Minerals Sector
Examples of intiatives:
- Training initiatives that aim to build skills that align with the nation’s needs
- Efforts towards transitioning and equipping Omanis with skills and roles from those of expats
- Omanis hold leadership positions and or initiatives to promote and increase retention rates for Omanis.
Category 3: Best ICV Program in Contracting or Supplier Community
The Best Large Company Local Content Program Award recognizes companies that have embedded local content at the core of their operations and delivered measurable, transformative impact over the past year. It honors initiatives that empower Omani suppliers, strengthen national capabilities, and create lasting in country value. Through this leadership, these programs are building a stronger national supply chain and advancing Oman’s path toward a more diversified and self-reliant economy.
Mandatory Criteria:
- Company must have a specialist managing ICV Program or have a plan to implement an ICV managerial position in the company.
- Company must be classified as a large company (revenues >OMR 5M or 150+ employees) and registered with Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP).
- Company must provide services or products in the energy and minerals sector.
- Omanization must meet Ministry of Labor Omanization Target.
- Local impact contributed to the community, environmental and overall national value.
Category 4: Best Local Manufacturer in Energy and Mining Sectors
The Best Local Manufacturer Award celebrates manufacturers who are anchoring high-value industries within Oman by transforming local resources into world-class products. It recognizes initiatives that establish advanced in-country production, strengthen strategic value chains, and expand the use of local inputs and expertise. Through this leadership, they are building a stronger industrial base and a more self reliant national economy.
Mandatory Criteria:
- Company must be registered with Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) and must have an industrial facility in the Sultanate of Oman.
- Company must manufacture products that are registered under Made-in-Oman program with Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP).
- Company must produce locally manufactured products for energy and minerals sector.
- Company must meet Ministry of Labor Omanization Target (Omanization certificate).
- The company is compliant with HSE and other energy and minerals certificates.
- Company must source a significant portion of raw material locally.
