According to preliminary data from the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), total natural gas production — including imports — stood at 22,716.4 million cubic meters by May-end 2025, up from 22,650.8 million in the same period last year.
The increase was largely driven by a significant 11.1% jump in associated gas output, which reached 5.18 billion cubic meters, compared to 4.66 billion in 2024. In contrast, non-associated gas production and imports fell by 2.5%, dropping to 17.54 billion cubic meters from 17.99 billion.
On the consumption side, industrial projects recorded a 6% decline in gas usage, down to 11.46 billion cubic meters from 12.20 billion in the same period last year. However, other sectors showed an upward trend.
Gas usage in power generation rose 3% to 5.81 billion cubic meters, reflecting the country’s growing energy demand. Consumption in oil fields — which includes use by industrial zones, Oman Mining Company, and Oman Cement — surged by 13.3%, reaching 5.33 billion cubic meters.
Industrial zones alone saw a 7% rise in gas use, increasing to 113.8 million cubic meters from 106.3 million a year earlier.
