Briefly introduce your organization and your role in sustainability, environment, water, or clean energy.
Veolia in Oman operates as an integrated environmental services partner, delivering end-to-end water, wastewater and waste solutions across municipal, industrial, and energy sectors. Our role is to design, operate, and optimize critical infrastructure that safeguards water resources, ensures regulatory compliance, and improves environmental performance. Through advanced treatment processes, digital performance tools, and local capacity development, we support Oman’s transition toward resource efficiency, resilience, and low-carbon operations.
What sustainability challenge in Oman or the region needs urgent attention today?
One of the most urgent challenges is water security under increasing climate stress—with higher demand, limited natural freshwater resources, and the need to protect coastal and marine ecosystems. At the same time, the region must rapidly improve resource efficiency, reduce carbon intensity, and scale waste-to-resource approaches. The solution requires integrated action: smarter water management, wider reuse, stronger environmental compliance, and a faster shift toward circular economy models.
How is your organization contributing towards Net Zero, decarbonization, or circular economy goals according to Net Zero emission 2050 and Oman Vision 2040?
Veolia strategic program named ‘GreenUp’ contributes through operational and measurable actions aligned with both Net Zero 2050 and Oman Vision 2040:
- Energy optimization and emissions reduction across water and wastewater assets by improving process efficiency, reducing specific energy consumption (kWh/m³), and optimizing operations.
- Circular water solutions, including treated wastewater reuse and improved sludge management, reducing pressure on freshwater resources.
- Circular economy implementation, enabling recovery of value from waste streams and by-products while reducing landfill cost and environmental impact.
- GreenUp alignment, embedding Veolia’s global decarbonization, depollution, and resource regeneration objectives into local operations and partnerships.
- Local capacity building, ensuring long-term sustainability through training, Omanization, and knowledge transfer.
What innovation, technology, or solution are you showcasing at OSW 2026?
At OSW 2026, Veolia will showcase operationally proven solutions already implemented in the Sultanate, aligned with Oman Vision 2040 priorities:
- Advanced desalination and water production optimization, drawing on operational experience at facilities such as Barka IV, where performance optimization supports reliable supply with improved energy efficiency.
- Wastewater treatment and reuse solutions, including operations at Al Amerat STP, demonstrating how treated effluent and optimized sludge management contribute to circular water and environmental protection.
- Containerized and decentralized RO solutions, such as Qalhat & Tiwi, enabling resilient water supply in remote and industrial locations.
- Digital performance and asset management tools, supporting predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring, and efficiency gains across assets.
- NAMAT School Competition, illustrating how technical infrastructure solutions must be reinforced by early-stage education and behavioral change to achieve lasting sustainability impact.
Why did you choose to sponsor OSW 2026?
OSW is Oman’s most strategic platform for policy alignment, technical exchange, and cross-sector collaboration. Veolia sponsors OSW 2026 to actively contribute to national sustainability dialogue, share proven solutions, and support the implementation of Oman Vision 2040 and Net Zero 2050 targets. Our continued sponsorship reflects our long-term commitment to Oman and our recognized performance, validated through OSW Gold (2023) and OSW Platinum (2024 & 2025) awards.
What outcomes are you hoping to achieve from your participation at OSW?
Through OSW 2026, we aim to:
- Advance technical collaboration on priority water, wastewater, waste and environmental projects.
- Demonstrate scalable, performance-driven solutions with measurable environmental and operational KPIs.
- Accelerate the adoption of circular economy and decarbonization models in Oman.
- Strengthen knowledge transfer between global expertise and local talent.
What message would you like to share with visitors attending OSW 2026?
Sustainability is not achieved through statements, but through daily actions. By working together—government, industry, and communities we can secure water resources, protect the environment, and create long-term value for Oman. Veolia is proud to be part of this national journey.
