Gauri Singh is the deputy director-general of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). She has more than 30 years of experience in policy, advocacy and project implementation in renewable energy and sustainable development, in India and internationally. Ms Singh was previously the director of country support and partnerships at IRENA. Before joining the agency, she worked in India’s federal government and at a senior level in state government. Federally, she led the development of India’s National Solar Mission policy in 2010. This early policy framework was designed to drive solar power development across the country. In the Madhya Pradesh state government, she steered rural development, guiding strategic planning and implementation for large initiatives. Her work involved poverty reduction and sustainable development in rural communities.
