Marking a significant milestone in Oman’s first green ammonia project, Sungrow Hydrogen, a leading Chinese electrolyser manufacturer, has secured a major contract to supply water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment.
The 100,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) green ammonia plant is being developed by Green Hydrogen and Chemicals Company SAOC (GHC), a subsidiary of India-based ACME Group, in Duqm’s Special Economic Zone, with plans to expand capacity to 900,000 tpa in phases.
Sungrow will supply 1000Nm³/h alkaline-type hydrogen production equipment for ACME’s 320MW project, with deliveries set to complete by 2025. The plant’s first stage aims to produce 300 tonnes of green ammonia daily by 2026, boosting Oman’s position in the global green hydrogen sector.
The collaboration strengthens Sungrow’s relationship with ACME in the Middle East, leveraging its 3GW annual production capacity and advanced alkaline electrolyser assembly technology.
This deal follows Shuangliang Hydrogen's similar contract for the project. Together, these agreements signal rapid progress for Oman’s green energy aspirations.
Yara, a Norwegian crop nutrition company, has committed to purchasing 100,000 tpa of green ammonia under a long-term agreement, underscoring the project’s commercial viability.
