1. What does sustainability mean to you, personally?
Sustainability, to me, is a commitment to living responsibly — ensuring that every decision we make today creates long-term value for our environment, our society, and future generations.
2. Can you share a defining moment that sparked your passion for sustainability?
One defining moment was witnessing the successful commissioning of a key grid integration project that connected renewable energy to Oman’s national grid. It was a tangible reminder that sustainability is not just an ideal — it’s a transformative force when paired with innovation and purpose.
3. How has your sustainability journey evolved over the years?
My journey began with community-focused CSR initiatives and gradually deepened into strategic sustainability, integrating ESG practices into corporate planning, stakeholder engagement, and policy development — especially at OETC, where sustainability is now embedded into our core operations.
4. How does sustainability feature in your current role or work?
At OETC, sustainability is not a side initiative — it’s part of our DNA. Whether through green financing, decarbonization of transmission infrastructure, or aligning with Oman Vision 2040, my role involves driving communications, partnerships, and strategies that amplify sustainable outcomes across the company.
5. What’s a sustainability project or initiative you’ve been part of that you’re most proud of?
I’m most proud of our Green Finance Framework at OETC, which led to the issuance of green bonds and loans to fund climate-resilient infrastructure. It positioned us as a regional leader in sustainable energy financing and demonstrated our tangible commitment to ESG principles.
6. What are the biggest challenges you see in implementing sustainability on the ground?
One of the biggest challenges is aligning cross-sector stakeholders toward a shared vision, especially when balancing short-term costs with long-term benefits. Building awareness, changing mindsets, and ensuring policy consistency are all critical hurdles that require ongoing collaboration.
7. What is your vision for a sustainable Oman in 2040?
I envision a sustainable Oman in 2040 as a nation powered by clean energy, connected through green infrastructure, guided by circular economy principles, and thriving through empowered communities that value innovation and environmental stewardship.
8. In one sentence: what does a sustainable future look like to you?
A sustainable future is one where economic growth, environmental integrity, and social equity move forward together — not in competition, but in harmony.
