90 EV charging stations installed in Oman: MoTCIT

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MoTCIT) said on Wednesday it has set a number of electric car charging stations on main and sub-main roads in the Sultanate of Oman.

This step emerged from the ministry’s keenness to adopt modern technologies and reduce carbon emissions.

The ministry stated that it seeks to provide many green mobility solutions and contribute to supporting the electric vehicle system in the Sultanate of Oman, in line with its national programme to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

According to the ministry, the electric car charging stations will cover 90 locations along the roads of the Sultanate, including 49 stations in the Governorate of Muscat distributed on highways and some public places, as follows: Bausher (18 stations), Muscat (2 stations), Muttrah (6 stations) and Seeb (22 stations).

In North Al Batinah Governorate, there are 10 charging stations distributed as follows: one station in each of Sohar and Shinas, two stations in each of Liwa and Saham, and 4 stations in Al Suwaiq.

With regard to Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, there are 8 charging stations distributed among: (7 stations) in Nizwa and one in Manah, while there are 4 charging stations in Al Wusta Governorate: (3 stations) in Haima and one in Duqm.

There are also 12 charging stations in the Dhofar Governorate, including: (4 stations) in Thumrait, (3 stations) in Muqshin and (5 stations) in Salalah.

As for the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah and South Al Sharqiyah, one charging station has been installed in each governorate. There will be 4 charging stations in the border areas.
