• Ahmed has been involved in various audit and tax advisory assignments, both to foreign and local companies involved in other sectors such as construction, manufacturing and the financial services industry
• He has detailed understanding of the regional tax principles and practices
• He has assisted international companies acquiring new business in the region by carrying out multi country tax due diligence assignments
• He has developed a deep understanding of the Oman Income Tax Law and its application including double tax treaties signed between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and various countries
• He was actively involved with our Islamic Banking team from Bahrain in introducing Islamic Banking in Oman. This involved presentations to the public and meetings/forums with the banking industry and Central Bank of Oman

• Alkesh is a Partner in the tax practice at EY Muscat specializing in corporate taxation services. Alkesh is also our MENA Sustainability Tax Leader with exclusive focus on the very large Oil & Gas, Mining & Metals and Power & Utility companies operating in the MENA region.
• Alkesh joined EY in October 2005 and is based in the Muscat office. He has over 23 years of professional experience in Oman.
• He has been a regular contributor to the development of the tax knowledge base. He is a regular contributor to the articles published in the newspapers by EY.

• Alkesh is also a Bachelor of Commerce from the Maharaja Sayajirao University, Gujarat, India

Professional Experience

• Alkesh is leading several initiatives for EY in the MENA region. He has handled many high profile International Tax Services (ITS) assignments across the MENA region. He has developed relationships with large family groups in Oman which enables the Private Client Service offering in Oman. He has been involved in very large Tax Due Diligence projects in the Oil & Gas and Power & Utility sectors.
• Alkesh is also the Tax Account Leader on some of the largest National Oil Companies head quartered in the MENA region. He is also responsible for developing the International Tax Services offerings with particular emphasis on Transfer Pricing and Transaction Tax.
• Alkesh is also leading and has developed the Value Added Tax service offering in Oman.
• Alkesh has experience in corporate income tax advisory and consulting. This includes tax structuring, review of agreements, tax due diligence review, tax planning and entry strategies for major global corporations intending to establish their presence in Oman.
• His experience includes providing taxation services to both local and multinational clients, from a variety of industries. He has advised several foreign multinationals wishing to establish their presence in Oman. His sector experience includes Oil & Gas, Power & Utilities, Banking & Financial Services, EPC and Real Estate. Some of his largest clients are the large oilfield services companies operating in MENA region such as Baker Hughes, GE Oil & Gas, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Weatherford, KCA Deutag etc.
• He has been involved in many special advisory assignments involving application of double tax treaties. He also has been involved in the preparation of a number of objections and appeals to the tax authorities.
• Alkesh has been involved in advising 8 out of the 10 largest projects ever awarded in Oman from a tax advisory perspective.
