EV charging infrastructure rolled out in Dhofar

SALALAH: The journey towards carbon reduction and sustainability in Oman's Dhofar Governorate took a major leap with the rollout of Oman Oil Marketing Company’s Green Mobility Strategy in conjunction with the ongoing khareef holiday season.

This ambitious initiative aimed to establish a network of electric chargers along the entire north-to-south route of the Sultanate of Oman, enabling electric car owners to travel with confidence and promote eco-friendly transportation options.

Starting from the northern borders of Oman with the United Arab Emirates, the project witnessed the installation of electric chargers at strategic locations to cover the entire journey from north to south.

These charging stations were placed at key points, including at the border between Oman and the UAE, Suhar, Halban, Al Khoudh, Haima, Al Ghaba and Manah.

This extensive coverage ensurers that electric car owners can undertake their journeys seamlessly, knowing that charging facilities were readily available along the way.

Recently, the scope of the Green Mobility Strategy was extended throughout Dhofar Governorate, with the introduction of quick chargers in Maqshan and Seeh Al-Khairat, and omanoil’s filling station at Saada (Salalah).

The charging infrastructure provides options for all types of electric cars, with one fast charger at 180 kW and two fast chargers at 120 kW, alongside three medium-speed chargers.

Building on its plan to expand the EV charging infrastructure in Oman, Oman Oil Marketing Company recently announced the signing of a binding Heads of Terms with Synergy Investments LLC to establish Electric Vehicles One (EVO) tasked with developing Oman's electric vehicle infrastructure. The pact establishes EVO's business activities primarily in trading, installation, operation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging stations as well as other services and products that complement Oman's electric vehicles' ecosystem.
