Nama Water Services launches prepaid water meters

Muscat: Nama Water Services on Monday introduced a pioneering service in Oman's water sector—a prepaid water meter system. This innovative service is a first in the Middle East and represents a significant leap in the use of technology within the GCC region.

The CEO of Nama Water Services, Qais Al-Zakwani, emphasized the company's drive towards superior customer service with these new meters that are equipped with the latest in global technology. Following extensive testing to ensure a seamless activation, the service aims to enhance the customer experience and align with the company's commitment to ongoing development in this essential sector.

Al-Zakwani detailed the careful preparation that preceded the launch, including a pilot phase for staff training and the integration of successful strategies from international prepaid water systems. The company is poised to expand this service throughout all governorates it serves.

The prepaid meters, utilizing IoT technology, offer real-time usage data to help customers manage water consumption efficiently, thus addressing issues of debt accumulation, a feature particularly beneficial for commercial entities and rental properties.

Nama Water Services has made this service accessible through both a mobile app and an e-portal, facilitating complete electronic management of the meters. The service includes a range of features such as installation requests, meter replacement, credit checks, and consumption monitoring. Customers can top up their prepaid meters with variable amounts and receive SMS alerts to avoid service interruption due to low balances.
